The Kingdom of Chicago is the largest and most populous kingdom on the continent of North Illinois, with a current population of 241,081. The Kingdom of Chicago can be confused with Chicago, which is a city inside The Kingdom of Chicago. The president of the Kingdom of Chicago is Miss-Ter Ser Queen President, which has been president since 1921. She is also the queen of Chicago since 1824. Kingdom of Chicago has been under the rule of the Oland Royal Family since 1382, and the family ruled even longer in The Illinoisan Empire. Although current leaders having the surname Simmsoland, they are direct descendants of the first Oland (Elliv Oland).
The Kingdom of Chicago separated from The Illinoisan Empire after The Illinoisan Revolution. Chicago has the same leadership as the empire had, but "created" a new country to prevent public humiliation. The name of the country "Kingdom of Chicago" was named after the countries past queen's pet cat named Chicago, this cat was the start of a large Chicagoian tradition of the queen of Chicago having a cat.
Chicago is widely known for its disaster involving the city Chicago, and the conflict following. The disaster started in 1837 when Lobsters released the Lobster Nuke onto the capital of Chicago, Chicago, this started The Warm War and resulted in the capital being uninhabitable. This made Shelbyville be the unofficial capital of Chicago again.
The Kingdom of Chicago is a relatively closed down country allowing minimal amounts of people to move/visit the country. They are opening up the country more and more since the end of dictatorship, and the rise of The Lobster Resistance. Countries which fund Joliet are allowed to send scientists which are guaranteed to be able to visit.
Politics
The Kingdom of Chicago was a dictatorship/"monarchy" from 1382-1720. This ruling pattern traces its origin from the conqueror Elliv Oland during The Illinoisan Empire.
In 1720, the semi-democratic system was put in place by Effie Oland. At the time the country was a dictatorship and nobody could leave, and punishments were severe. They changed it to be 1 elected president and the current monarch rule the country together. If their disparity between them, the public were allowed to vote on it. The president stays in power until the public votes for a new president. After majority wants a new president, anyone can begin a electoral campaign. After 6 months a vote will occur where everyone can vote for anyone in the country and a new president is elected.
It is unclear whether or not this system is still in place as Miss-Ter Ser Queen President was elected president while being the current monarch giving them all the power. A worrying fact is that Miss-Ter Ser Queen President reinstated a long-dead government agency called the Federal Bureau of Kingdom Security, which was created to prevent revolution. If the queen president were to die, a new election for another president would be forced to occur, potentially being the only way of reintroducing democracy into the kingdom.
History
Separation from Illinoisan Empire
1382
After many countries in North Illinois became independent of The Illinoisan Empire due to the revolution, Kingdom of Chicago was formed. The ruler Isley Oland decided that it was best to also "separate" from The Illinoisan Empire to prevent public humiliation. This was a futile attempt and Chicago became the root of many jokes throughout Illinois in this period. The name "Chicago" originated from Isley's pet cat named Chicago.

Effie Oland took the crown after Heather Oland stepped down.
1720
The ruthless dictator Effie Oland died and their final act was to change Chicago's law to be joint leadership of a elected president and the current monarch. Flora Simmsoland took the crown and Esther Haney was elected president. This was initially condemned by the queen, Flora Simmsoland, but eventually she learnt to accept it and became a better ruler from it.

The crown was given up by Flora Simmsoland and given to Marjorie Simmsoland.
1776
Esther Haney stepped down as president and Rina Cabinetmaker was elected as the next president.
1824
Marjorie Simmsoland was deemed unfit to rule and the crown was given to Miss-Ter Ser Queen President.

The first case of The Lobster Disease occurred, and resulted in the first Lobster Person.
Post-War Events
1921
After Rina Cabinetmaker refused to make a public notice regarding the movement of Lobsters. Miss-Ter Ser Queen President was elected "democratically" elected as the new president. This made her both president and queen of Chicago
1923
The president queen signed the Anti Lobster People Act of 1923, this protected the rest of the kingdom by sending Lobster People to Chicago to live out their crustacean lives. After this, no more people died of Lobster Disease excluding the people to willfully entered Chicago.
1926
The Secret Service was formed in order to protect the president.
1927
The Federal Bureau of Kingdom Security (FBKS) was silently reinstated by Miss-Ter Ser Queen President.
